2017 Home Run Derby presented by D&P Communications Format

The Home Run Derby has been a part of All-Star Night for the past four years, and it’s coming back again this season. There will be a similar format to last year’s Derby, with a few twists:

-The Top 8 teams will get an automatic qualifier to the National Home Run Derby.
-The Top 2 in total home runs from each Regional Home Run Derby will advance to Morenci.
-The Regional format will be a 2 minute timer per player. Hit as many homers as possible.
-The National format will be a seeded bracket, with the Top 4 from last year getting a Bye. Teams 5-8 will be seeded accordingly, and the Regional qualifiers will be seeded from highest to lowest percentage of home runs hit in the region.
-If a Regional qualifier drops out, his spot will go to the next highest percentage of home runs from the region.
